Teaching Experience: I have taught improvisation classes, ensembles and private students at the Berkeley Jazzschool at the California Jazz Conservatory since 1997 when the school opened. Most of my students are adults or older teens. I no longer teach classes or ensembles, concentrating on private lessons. I also work as an ensemble coach.

Teaching Style/Philosophy: “I create a friendly supportive atmosphere. I want every student to feel that they have learned something useful, and with the confidence that their playing is improving. I specialize in improvisation and phrasing for jazz, R&B and Latin music.”
