Welcome to the Independent Musicians Alliance’s Directory of Performing Jazz Educators. This Directory is part of IMA’s mission to assist Bay Area based independent jazz musicians to collectively advocate for new standards of compensation, benefits, and working conditions. The minimum hourly rate of $80/hr has been determined by a collection of IMA’s teaching artists.* The teachers listed on this site support this minimum fee for one-on-one lessons.
The teachers included on this directory have undergone an extensive selection process, and have been approved by a panel of IMA members.
All arrangements for one-on-one lessons are made directly between the student and the teacher. The IMA collects no fees for providing this directory; however, our work continues with the generous donations of supporters. Click here to donate now.
Scholarships are available for individual students who are seeking to study with a teacher on this list, but cannot afford the minimum of $80/hr. Click here for more info.
