This marathon concert of Independent Musicians Alliance members will feature member Akira Tana as MC for the afternoon. Akira will also be performing double duty as one of the featured bandleaders, alongside Brian Andres, Kristen Strom, Scott Foster, and Simon Rowe. All funds raised at this concert will go directly towards the programs of the IMA. Our primary program for members is the Musicians Assistance Fund, which relieves the burden of common expenses for musicians (parking, travel, and cartage fees), while also helping musicians to more (paying musicians rehearsal fees, reimbursing rental and application fees, and more). Over 6 months in 2022, we distributed $5,785 in assistance fund payments directly to IMA members. Our fundraising goal for the 30th is $5,000, securing another 6 months of assistance payments and ensuring that we can continue to provide this crucial support to musicians.
Your donation of $25 supports Bay Area musicians organizing and collectively advocating for better working conditions while pursuing their craft. Entry for all five hours of music includes light snacks and soft drinks, and alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase. Can’t attend in person? We encourage you to donate nonetheless to show your support for music in the Bay Area, or send in a $50 donation for either a Jazz in the Neighborhood or Independent Musicians Alliance hat!
