Teaching Experience: Ian Carey has been a private music instructor (in trumpet, jazz improvisation and harmony, ear training, and composition/arranging) for over twenty years, and has been a visiting instructor at California Jazz Conservatory, Stanford University, the Jazzschool, Sonoma State University, Santa Rosa Junior College, and the Stanford Jazz Workshop.

Teaching Style/Philosophy: “My focus is on meeting students where they are developmentally, recognizing that different students have different learning styles and needs, and in helping keep their minds and ears as well as their ‘chops’ engaged.”
