Rafa Postel ● Trumpet

Teaching Experience: Rafa has been giving private lessons in the Bay Area for the past 10 years. In addition, he has taught at the Oaktown Jazz Workshops, the Oakland School for the Arts, the Jazzschool Summer Youth Program, and the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. In these positions, he was responsible for leading small jazz ensembles, teaching improvisation, coaching big band trumpet and trombone sections at the high school level, teaching group trumpet classes, and working individually with students as young as 9.

Teaching Style/Philosophy: “I like to help students explore areas of interest and develop their own voice on the instrument. Our work together builds a strong musical foundation, and hopefully gives a sense of the joy in music making and the learning process.”
